MOSCOW, Sep 29 (PRIME) -- Multi-brand store chain Mir Kubikov (World of Blocks) will replace certified Lego stores in Russia, and it will sell plastic construction sets and other toys including the Lego products acquired through parallel imports, the chain’s manager Inventive Retail Group said in a statement on Thursday.
The new chain will comprise 65 stores in more than 20 cities of Russia, and it will also include an online store that would deliver goods throughout the country. Mir Kubikov will mainly sell block sets and accessories, but it plans to start selling educational toys in the future. The chain will continue selling Lego sets that it plans to buy from other suppliers in the framework of parallel imports, the company said.
Inventive Retail Group told PRIME in July that Lego broke down the contract with Mir Kubikov, who was its distributor in Russia. Later that month, the Industry and Trade Ministry included Lego blocks into the list of parallel imports.
